18th Century European Iron Locks & Keys collection
Product Description
A rare 18th-19th Century collection of English and German iron locks and keys (3 pairs total). The collection consists of two iron barrel shaped locks with screw keys, and a large iron padlock with brass fittings and a key. The short barrel locks have simple keys with a threaded bit like a drill that screws into the keyhole to release the bar. The large padlock is a style similar to those used in smokehouses in the 19th century, a protrusion inside the keyhole fits into the cavity on the tip of the key as a swivel point, and this lock still functions with a little gentle manipulation. Size of large padlock: 4.5" L x 3" W (11.4 cm x 7.6 cm). From a private East Coast, USA collection. weight:18 oz
