Product Description

Being offered today is a Extremely rare example of a 1928 $ 50 Federal Reserve “NUMBER 7” Chicago “REDEEMABLE IN GOLD” note, that is in Choice Uncirculated (CU) condition. This note is very hard to find in this condition.

This note also features a very low serial number: G 00209090 A. The lower the serial number, the more collectible it is.

The serial number starts with the letter “G”, which signifies the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. The number “7” on the note also signifies the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago. This note was among the first notes printed which is identified by the letter A at the end of the serial number. So, we have a G – A block.

The upper left of the note states:

“REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE US TREASURY OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”. So, at the time you could cash the note in for $ 50 in gold. Just imagine what that would be worth today if you received $ 50 gold pieces back then.

The color just pops off the note. The margins are centered very well, and the ink is well embossed. The colors are bright and bold. The well-preserved paper adds to its visual eye appeal.
